Inaugural Meeting of the EMRIE Project Stakeholder Group – Interreg Europe

On October 6th, the first meeting of the Lower Silesian stakeholder group of the project
"EMRIE - European Mining Regions Innovation Ecosystems supporting the Circularity
and Resource Efficiency" took place. The project is implemented in Lower Silesia by
the Marshal's Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship - Department of Transformation
in cooperation with the Wrocław University of Science and Technology - Faculty of
Geoengineering, Mining and Geology. The inaugural meeting was attended by leading
experts, entrepreneurs, and academics from Lower Silesia involved in the extraction
and processing of natural resources, including critical raw materials. These experts
implement the requirements of the EU Critical Raw Materials Regulation (CRMA) and
the provisions of the circular economy in their daily work. Group members will be
invited to participate in project activities implemented in Lower Silesia (stakeholder
group meetings, SWOT analysis, updating regional strategic document, informational
and promotional events) and to attend dedicated project meetings in partner countries.
Universities and the research sector were represented by representatives of the
Wrocław University of Science and Technology, the Mineral and Energy Economy
Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, KGHM Cuprum sp. z o.o. –
Research and Development Center, the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of
Non-Ferrous Metals, the Polish Geological Institute – National Research Institute, and
the Poltegor Institute, the Opencast Mining Institute. Representatives of KGHM Polska
Miedź S.A., KGHM ZANAM S.A., Omya sp. z o.o., Holcim Polska S.A., Strzeblowskie
Raw Material Mines and Grochów S.A. represented entrepreneurs operating in the
mining and processing of critical raw materials, while the Polish Association of Deposits
and Minerals and the Polish Copper Employers' Association represented the social
side. The administration was represented by the District Mining office in Wrocław and
the Association of Mining Engineers and Technicians.
